It has a very simple and user-friendly interface. With Audacity, you can record a video, apply various audio effects, edit multiple audio formats, and change the pitch or speed of audio.<\/p>\n<p>In this post, we will describe how to install Audacity on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. We will cover:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Installing Audacity via PPA<\/li>\n<li>Installing Audacity via Snap Store<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Installing Audacity via PPA<\/h2>\n<p>Audacity is available in the default repositories of Ubuntu but that is an older version. To get an updated version, we will install it by adding a third-party PPA. Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n<p>1. First, add a third party PPA for Audacity using the below command:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1\/audacity<\/pre>\n<p>Enter the password for sudo. Then update repository index using the below command:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>3. Now you can install Audacity latest version using the below command:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt install audacity<\/pre>\n<p>If it prompts for confirmation, hit <strong>y <\/strong>and then<strong> Enter <\/strong>to confirm. In this method, we will install Audacity via its snap package. Let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n<p>1. First, update the repository index using the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt update<\/pre>\n<p>Enter the sudo password.<\/p>\n<p>2. Then install snapd using the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt install snapd<\/pre>\n<p>3. Now, in order to install Audacity, use the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo snap install audacity<\/pre>\n<p>Wait for a while until Audacity is installed on your machine.<\/p>\n<p>The following output confirms that Audacity version <strong>3.0.4<\/strong> has been installed on our machine.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"599\" height=\"71\" class=\"wp-image-11026\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/word-image-182.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/word-image-182.png 599w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/word-image-182-300x36.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Launch Audacity<\/h2>\n<p>After installation, you can launch Audacity either via the command line or GUI. To launch Audacity via command line, use the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>$ audacity<\/pre>\n<p>To launch Audacity via GUI, hit the super key and type audacity in the search bar that shows up.
