During the Covid-19 pandemic, Zoom has become the standard for communication and meetings in schools, offices, and businesses. Zoom is available for Mac, Linux, Windows, Android, and iOS.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s post covers the installation of Zoom on openSUSE. There are three methods for installing Zoom on openSUSE:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Installation via YaST (Graphical Installation)<\/li>\n<li>Installation via Zypper (Command Line Installation)<\/li>\n<li>Installation via Snap (Command Line Installation)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For other Linux OS, visit how to install Zoom on <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/de\/ubuntu\/how-to-install-zoom-on-ubuntu-20-04-lts\/\">Ubuntu<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/de\/centos\/how-to-install-zoom-on-centos-8\/\">CentOS<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/de\/red-hat\/how-to-install-zoom-client-on-almalinux-rocky-linux-8\/\">AlmaLinux \/ Rocky Linux 8<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: The steps outlined here are focused on Linux distribution <strong>openSUSE<\/strong> <strong>Leap 15.3. <\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Method#1 Installing Zoom using YaST<\/h2>\n<p>This method involves installing Zoom on openSUSE using the YaST package manager. Follow the steps outlined below:<\/p>\n<p>1. First, we will download the Zoom client rpm package for openSUSE. To download Zoom, visit the Zoom official <a href=\"https:\/\/zoom.us\/download?os=linux\">downloads<\/a> page for Linux. Choose your Linux distribution from the <strong>Linux Type<\/strong> drop-down menu and the <strong>OS Architecture<\/strong>. Also download the public key that was used to sign the Zoom rpm package.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"704\" height=\"147\" class=\"wp-image-15480\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-614.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-614.png 704w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-614-300x63.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can find the downloaded key in your Downloads directory as <strong>package-signing-key.pub<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3. Now open the Terminal and move inside the Downloads directory.<\/p>\n<pre>$ cd ~\/Downloads<\/pre>\n<p>Then run the command below to import the public key:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo rpm --import package-signing-key.pub<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"746\" height=\"55\" class=\"wp-image-15481\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-615.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-615.png 746w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-615-300x22.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4. Now open the File Manager in your system and go to the Downloads directory. Click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"841\" height=\"476\" class=\"wp-image-15487\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-621.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-621.png 841w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-621-300x170.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-621-768x435.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 841px) 100vw, 841px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Zoom has now installed on your system.<\/p>\n<h2>Method#2 Installing Zoom using Zypper<\/h2>\n<p>This method involves installing Zoom on openSUSE using the Zypper package manager. Follow the steps outlined below:<\/p>\n<p>1. To download Zoom, open the Terminal utility and run this command:<\/p>\n<pre>$ wget https:\/\/zoom.us\/client\/latest\/zoom_openSUSE_x86_64.rpm<\/pre>\n<p>You can find the downloaded file <strong>zoom_openSUSE_x86_64.rpm<\/strong> in your current working directory.<\/p>\n<p>2. Download the public key that was used to sign the Zoom rpm package.<\/p>\n<pre>$ wget -O package-signing-key.pub https:\/\/zoom.us\/linux\/download\/pubkey<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"851\" height=\"331\" class=\"wp-image-15488\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-622.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-622.png 851w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-622-300x117.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-622-768x299.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 851px) 100vw, 851px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3. Now run the command below to import the public key:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo rpm --import package-signing-key.pub<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"746\" height=\"55\" class=\"wp-image-15489\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-623.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-623.png 746w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-623-300x22.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 746px) 100vw, 746px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4. Now we can install Zoom through the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo zypper install zoom_openSUSE_x86_64.rpm<\/pre>\n<p>It will first show you the details of the installation like the package name, download size, and the overall space that will be used. Next, it will ask for confirmation, type <strong>y<\/strong> and then hit the<strong> Return<\/strong> key. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"885\" height=\"429\" class=\"wp-image-15490\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-624.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-624.png 885w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-624-300x145.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-624-768x372.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 885px) 100vw, 885px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This will install Zoom application on your openSUSE system.<\/p>\n<h2>Method#3 Snap<\/h2>\n<p>This method covers the installation of Zoom application via snap. Follow the steps outlined below:<\/p>\n<p>1. Add the snappy repository to your openSUSE repository database:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo zypper addrepo --refresh https:\/\/download.opensuse.org\/repositories\/system:\/snappy\/openSUSE_Leap_15.3 snappy<\/pre>\n<p>2. Add the public key and then upgrade the package cache through the below commands:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo zypper --gpg-auto-import-keys refresh<\/pre>\n<pre>$ sudo zypper dup --from snappy<\/pre>\n<p>4. Then run this command to install snapd:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo zypper install snapd<\/pre>\n<p>If prompts for confirmation, hit <strong>y<\/strong> and then <strong>Enter<\/strong> key to carry on the procedure.<\/p>\n<p>5. Run the commands below to start and enable snapd:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo systemctl enable snapd<\/pre>\n<pre>$ sudo systemctl start snapd<\/pre>\n<p>Also, start and enable the snapd.apparmor service:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo systemctl enable snapd.apparmor<\/pre>\n<pre>$ sudo systemctl start snapd.apparmor<\/pre>\n<p>6. Now to install Zoom, run the command below:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo snap install zoom-client<\/pre>\n<p>Zoom client will then be installed on your openSUSE system.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"684\" height=\"73\" class=\"wp-image-15491\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-625.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-625.png 684w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-625-300x32.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 684px) 100vw, 684px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Launch Zoom<\/h2>\n<p>To launch Zoom, hit the super key and enter <em>zoom<\/em> in the search box. Zoom icon will appear in the search result. Click this icon to launch Zoom on your system.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"459\" height=\"254\" class=\"wp-image-15492\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-626.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-626.png 459w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-626-300x166.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 459px) 100vw, 459px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After Zoom application is opened, you will see the following window. Now you can sign in to your zoom account. You can also join a meeting directly without signing into a zoom account by clicking <strong>Join a Meeting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"562\" height=\"379\" class=\"wp-image-15493\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-627.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-627.png 562w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/word-image-627-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 562px) 100vw, 562px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Uninstall Zoom<\/h2>\n<p>If you ever need to uninstall Zoom, you can do this through the method below:<\/p>\n<p>If you have installed Zoom through the YaST or the Zypper package manager, you can uninstall it as follows:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo zypper remove zoom<\/pre>\n<p>If it prompts for a sudo password, provide the password. Then confirm the uninstall process by pressing <strong>y<\/strong> and then the<strong> Return <\/strong>key.<\/p>\n<p>If you have installed Zoom through Snap, you can uninstall it as follows:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo snap remove zoom-client<\/pre>\n<p>If it prompts for a sudo password, provide the password. Then confirm the uninstall process by pressing <strong>y<\/strong> and then the<strong> Return <\/strong>key.<\/p>\n<p>This post covered the installation of Zoom on openSUSE through three different methods. Using any of these methods, you can have the latest version of Zoom on your openSUSE system.
