It is integrated with most of the office 365 services. Microsoft Teams desktop client is available on all three major platforms, i.e. Windows, Linux, and MacOS. In this article, you will learn how to install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.<\/p>\n<p>You can install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu through following two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using Software Install (GUI)<\/li>\n<li>Using Terminal (Command line)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: The installation procedures have been tested on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.<\/p>\n<h2>Prerequisites<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Ubuntu 20.04 system<\/li>\n<li>User with sudo privileges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Install Microsoft Teams Using Terminal (Command line)<\/h2>\n<p>Follow the below steps in order to install Microsoft Teams through the command line method.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Download Microsoft Teams<\/h3>\n<p>First, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams .deb package. In order to do so, open the Terminal using the Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut and run the following command in Terminal:<\/p>\n<pre><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/microsoft-teams\/download-app#desktopAppDownloadregion\">$ wget<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/packages.microsoft.com\/repos\/ms-teams\/pool\/main\/t\/teams\/teams_1.3.00.16851_amd64.deb\">https:\/\/packages.microsoft.com\/repos\/ms-teams\/pool\/main\/t\/teams\/teams_1.3.00.16851_amd64.deb<\/a><\/pre>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Use Ctrl+C to copy the above command then paste it to the Terminal using Ctrl+Shift+v or using the Mouse right-click.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1050\" height=\"253\" class=\"wp-image-183\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-84.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-84.png 1050w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-84-300x72.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-84-1024x247.png 1024w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-84-768x185.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1050px) 100vw, 1050px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The downloaded file will be saved to your <strong>Home<\/strong> directory by default.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Install Microsoft Teams<\/h3>\n<p>Now install the Microsoft Teams using the following command in Terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo dpkg -i teams_1.3.00.16851_amd64.deb<\/pre>\n<p>When prompted for the password, type sudo password, after which the installation will be started.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"797\" height=\"233\" class=\"wp-image-184\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-85.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-85.png 797w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-85-300x88.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-85-768x225.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 797px) 100vw, 797px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Step 3: Launch Microsoft Teams<\/h3>\n<p>Once the installation is completed, launch Microsoft Teams using the following command in Terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>$ teams<\/pre>\n<p>Once launched, you will see the following view. Enter your email ID and then password to login.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"702\" height=\"848\" class=\"wp-image-185\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-86.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-86.png 702w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-86-248x300.png 248w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Remove Microsoft Teams<\/h2>\n<p>In case, you need to remove Microsoft Teams from Ubuntu; you can do this using the below command in Terminal:<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt remove teams<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"722\" height=\"232\" class=\"wp-image-186\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-87.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-87.png 722w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-87-300x96.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you run the above command to remove the Microsoft Teams, the system will ask for confirmation. Press <strong>y<\/strong> to continue, after which Microsoft Teams will be removed from the system.<\/p>\n<h2>Install Microsoft Teams Using Software Install (GUI)<\/h2>\n<p>For users who do not prefer the command line can use the graphical method for the installation. Follow the below steps to install Microsoft Teams through the graphical method.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Download Microsoft Teams<\/h3>\n<p>First, you will need to download the Microsoft Teams .deb package from the official website. You can do so by opening the following link in your web browser.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/packages.microsoft.com\/repos\/ms-teams\/pool\/main\/t\/teams\/teams_1.3.00.16851_amd64.deb\">https:\/\/packages.microsoft.com\/repos\/ms-teams\/pool\/main\/t\/teams\/teams_1.3.00.16851_amd64.deb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then the following dialog will appear. Select the <strong>Save File<\/strong> radio button and press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"366\" class=\"wp-image-187\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-88.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-88.png 540w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-88-300x203.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The downloaded file will be saved to your <strong>Downloads<\/strong> directory by default.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Install Microsoft Teams<\/h3>\n<p>Open the Nautilus File Manager in Ubuntu and go to <strong>Downloads<\/strong> directory. Find the downloaded Microsoft Teams package and right-click it. By doing so, a menu will appear, select <strong>Open With Software Install<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"808\" height=\"447\" class=\"wp-image-188\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-89.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-89.png 808w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-89-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-89-768x425.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 808px) 100vw, 808px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It will launch the Teams installer, as shown in the following screenshot. Open the <strong>Ubuntu Software<\/strong> from the left panel at the Desktop.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"285\" height=\"503\" class=\"wp-image-194\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-95.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-95.png 285w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/word-image-95-170x300.png 170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Ubuntu Software<\/strong>, go to the <strong>Installed <\/strong>tab. Type password and hit the <strong>Authenticate<\/strong> button, after which the Microsoft Teams will be removed from the Ubuntu system.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how you can install Microsoft Teams on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS system using either the command line or graphical method.
