While working in the Linux Terminal, users often become exhausted from using the same styled font for so long. However, they can enhance their experience by modifying the font’s appearance within the terminal. For this purpose, they have to modify\/adjust specific terminal settings.<\/p>\n

This article demonstrates how we can change the font of a Linux Terminal.<\/p>\n

How to Change the Font of Terminal in Linux?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

By default, the Linux Terminal has a Font Size of \u201c12px<\/strong>\u201d and the Font Family is \u201cMonospace<\/strong>\u201d. To enhance the interface, the fonts can be customized. The steps below explain how we can do so:<\/p>\n

Step 1: Open Terminal<\/strong><\/h3>\n

While you are on your desktop home screen in Linux, move the cursor to the top left of the screen and you will see \u201cActivities<\/strong>\u201d written. Click on it:<\/p>\n

Once you click on it, a search bar will appear. Write \u201cTerminal\u201d in it:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Press \u201cEnter<\/strong>\u201d and the Terminal of Linux will launch:<\/p>\n

Step 2: Open Terminal Settings<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Click on the 3 bars that are available at the top right of the terminal:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Once you click on the bars, it will open up a drop-down menu:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Now click on the \u201cPreferences\u201d Option from the Menu:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This will open up the settings tab.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Create a New Profile<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The preferences option will lead you to the \u201cPreferences Window<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

To change the fonts, create a New Profile by clicking on the \u201cProfile Option\u201d at the left navigation side menu:<\/p>\n

Once clicked, it will ask you to name the profile:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Enter the name you want to give to your profile and then click the \u201cCreate<\/strong>\u201d Button. This will make a new profile with your own custom font settings:<\/p>\n

Now here you can change the settings or you can make your custom font by clicking on the Custom Font checkbox:<\/p>\n

Once clicked, you can now change the Font Family as well as the Size. The changed settings will be applied to your \u201ccustom1\u201d profile. Here we first changed the Font Family and then the Font Size:<\/p>\n

Once done, click on the \u201cSelect\u201d button to save the changes:<\/p>\n

Step 4: Verify Changes<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Now go back to the terminal again. Click on the Menu Bar and then navigate to \u201cProfile\u201d:<\/p>\n

Clicking on the \u201cProfile\u201d will show you all available profiles. Select a Profile. In our case, it’s \u201cCustom1\u201d as we customized that profile in step 3:<\/p>\n

Thus by selecting your profile, you can change the terminal’s font.<\/p>\n

To change the font of the Linux terminal, first, open the terminal, then go to the terminal settings. After that navigate to the preferences where you will find the profiles option. Add a new profile and select a custom font. Save the profile and then in the terminal settings, navigate back to the profile and select your profile to make changes to the Linux terminal.
