It is compatible with new technologies and provides a smooth browsing experience.<\/p>\n

Opera is not pre-installed in the official Debian 12 repository so in this write-up, we will demonstrate the complete procedure of installing Opera browser on Debian 12.<\/p>\n

How to Install the Opera Browser on Debian Bookworm?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There are 2 most commonly used methods to install opera:<\/p>\n

  • Via Opera Repository<\/li>\n
  • From the Snap Store<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Method 1: Downloading and Installing Opera via Opera Repository<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    The step-by-step method of installing opera through the opera repository is demonstrated below:<\/p>\n

    Step 1: Import the Opera Repository<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Before we begin our installation process, it is essential to ensure that the system is up to date. To accomplish this please execute the provided command;<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Step 2: Install the Required Packages For Opera<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    To ensure an installation process it is necessary to include dependencies. Use the curl command for a smooth installation process as shown below:<\/p>\n

    $ <\/span>sudo<\/span> apt install<\/span> software-properties-common apt-transport-https curl ca-certificates -y<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n

    Step 3: Import the Repository of Opera<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    To verify our installed packages, we need to import the GPG key. Run the provided command to import the GPG key:<\/p>\n

    We have added the opera repository to the packages list, we need to update it by running the command:<\/p>\n

    Step 5: Install the Opera Browser<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Install the stable version of Opera by using the following command:<\/p>\n

    As we can see the stable version of Opera has been installed successfully.<\/p>\n

    Step 5: Launching the Opera Browser<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    There are 2 ways of launching the Opera browser<\/p>\n

    1. We can launch the Opera browser by simply typing \u201copera<\/strong>\u201d in the terminal as shown below:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The Opera Browser launches:<\/p>\n

      <\/p>\n

      1. We can also launch Opera from the desktop. Click on the \u201cActivities<\/strong>\u201d menu. Go to search and simply type \u201cOpera<\/strong>\u201d. This method is considered more convenient for launching the Opera browser.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Step 6: Working with Opera Browser<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        Let\u2019s start playing around with our newly installed Opera browser.<\/p>\n

        We can change the theme of our Opera browser. Click on the menu button and a new layout will appear.<\/p>\n

        We can change it to \u201cBlack<\/strong>\u201d as shown below:<\/p>\n

        Now we can also enable the \u201cVPN<\/strong>\u201d. Simply scroll down and click on \u201cSettings and Privacy<\/strong>\u201d and check the \u201cEnable VPN<\/strong>\u201d button as shown below\u201d<\/p>\n

        Method 2: Download and Install Opera From the Snap Store<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        Opera can be downloaded via the Snap Store as well. Simply execute the provided command:<\/p>\n

        To proceed, enter the root password. Now install \u201csnapd\u201d using the command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        $ apt install snapd<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<\/table>\n

        Press the \u201cY<\/strong>\u201d key to continue. To install Opera, simply run:<\/p>\n

        $ <\/span>snap install<\/span> opera<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

        How to Uninstall the Opera Browser?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        Run the provided command in the terminal window to uninstall the Opera browser:<\/p>\n

        $ <\/span>sudo<\/span> apt remove opera-stable<\/div><\/div>\n

        It can be seen Opera is uninstalled successfully.<\/p>\n
