In this guide, I am going to show you the methods of installing both on a base of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS instance.<\/p>\n<h2>Prerequisites<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>A base Ubuntu 20.04 instance<\/li>\n<li>Sudo privileges<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Install GNOME Vanilla on Ubuntu 20.04<\/h2>\n<p>GNOME Vanilla has fewer applications and it takes fewer system resources. Therefore, it is ideal for servers.<\/p>\n<p>Run the following command on the terminal to install Vanilla desktop.<\/p>\n<pre>$ sudo apt install gnome-session gdm3<\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1136\" height=\"369\" class=\"wp-image-5791\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/word-image-2.jpeg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/word-image-2.jpeg 1136w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/word-image-2-300x97.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/word-image-2-1024x333.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/word-image-2-768x249.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1136px) 100vw, 1136px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you are prompted, hit y and then Enter Key from your keyboard. More applications can be added and removed as desired.<\/p>\n<p>As far as its installation is concerned, we will be using tasksel tool.
