You can copy the ISO images of various operating systems and Ventoy will display them during boot time. In this guide, we show you how you can create a bootable multiboot USB drive using Ventoy.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 1: Download Ventoy tarball installation file<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>First off, download the latest Ventoy compressed file from GitHub as shown using the <strong>wget <\/strong>command.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ wget https:\/\/github.com\/ventoy\/Ventoy\/releases\/download\/v1.0.46\/ventoy-1.0.46-linux.tar.gz<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"978\" height=\"231\" class=\"wp-image-7483\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-637.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-637.png 978w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-637-300x71.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-637-768x181.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 978px) 100vw, 978px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Upon completion of the download, you can verify its presence in your current working directory using the <strong>ls<\/strong> command as shown.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ ls -l | grep ventoy<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"915\" height=\"181\" class=\"wp-image-7484\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-638.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-638.png 915w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-638-300x59.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-638-768x152.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 915px) 100vw, 915px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 2: Extract the Ventoy compressed file<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The next step is to extract the tarball file and this can be accomplished by running the command below.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ sudo tar -xvf ventoy-1.0.46-linux.tar.gz<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"916\" height=\"307\" class=\"wp-image-7485\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-639.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-639.png 916w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-639-300x101.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-639-768x257.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 916px) 100vw, 916px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This takes a matter of seconds, and once the extraction is complete, navigate to the extracted folder as shown.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ cd ventoy-1.0.46\/ <\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>If you are curious enough, you can check the contents of the directory as shown.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ ls -l<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>It contains script files, sub-directories, plugins, and a set of tools required to create a bootable USB drive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"918\" height=\"394\" class=\"wp-image-7486\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-640.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-640.png 918w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-640-300x129.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-640-768x330.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 918px) 100vw, 918px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 3: Create a bootable USB drive<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>To make the USB drive bootable, execute the <strong>VentoyWeb.sh<\/strong> script file as a root or sudo user as follows.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ sudo .\/VentoyWeb.sh<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>This creates a temporary web server that will help you make your USB drive bootable. So, if you have any precious data, be sure to back it up. To list all the partitions, run the <strong>fdisk<\/strong> command shown.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ sudo fdisk -l \/dev\/sdb<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>The <strong>\/dev\/sdb1 <\/strong>partition is the partition on which you will copy your ISO disc images. This is formatted using the exFAT filesystem format.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>\/dev\/sdb2 <\/strong>partition contains Ventoy bootloader files and occupies only 32M<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"809\" height=\"252\" class=\"wp-image-7492\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-646.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-646.png 809w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-646-300x93.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/word-image-646-768x239.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 809px) 100vw, 809px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our USB drive is now ready for multibooting. All that is remaining is to copy the ISO images of the operating systems that you want in the first partition.
