There\u2019s a growing trend of employees working from home, hotels, coffee restaurants or wherever they deem convenient.<\/p>\n<p>The transition to remote work implies that IT teams must employ innovative ways to provide support to remote users. This is where TeamViewer comes in<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamviewer.com\/\">TeamViewer<\/a> is a remote connectivity application that allows remote access to users\u2019 PCs over the internet which, in turn, allows IT teams to offer remote support. A support team member can seamlessly connect to a user\u2019s Desktop from wherever they are and provide technical assistance. Support online without having to be physically on location. Teamviewer also enables online meetings which allow users to collaborate on tasks.<\/p>\n<p>That said, Let\u2019s switch gears and check out how to install TeamViewer on AlmaLinux \/ Rocky Linux 8.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 1: Install EPEL package<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>First of all, begin by upgrading the system packages.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ sudo dnf update<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"968\" height=\"377\" class=\"wp-image-8544\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-566.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-566.png 968w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-566-300x117.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-566-768x299.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 968px) 100vw, 968px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next, install the EPEL ( Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux ) package which will provide extra packages for use by AlmaLinux.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ sudo dnf install epel-release<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1030\" height=\"408\" class=\"wp-image-8545\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-567.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-567.png 1030w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-567-300x119.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-567-1024x406.png 1024w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-567-768x304.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1030px) 100vw, 1030px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Step 2: Download and install TeamViewer<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The TeamViewer package is not present in AlmaLinux AppStream repositories, and the only workaround is to download manually from TeamViewer\u2019s download page.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this, download the RPM file from the TeamViewer official website.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ wget https:\/\/download.teamviewer.com\/download\/linux\/teamviewer.x86_64.rpm<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1026\" height=\"454\" class=\"wp-image-8546\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-568.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-568.png 1026w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-568-300x133.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-568-1024x453.png 1024w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-568-768x340.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1026px) 100vw, 1026px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once the RPM binary file is downloaded, use the DNF package manager to install it.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ sudo dnf install teamviewer.x86_64.rpm<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1023\" height=\"521\" class=\"wp-image-8547\" src=\"http:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-569.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-569.png 1023w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-569-300x153.png 300w, https:\/\/linuxways.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/word-image-569-768x391.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the installation complete, feel free to quench your curiosity and check the version of TeamViewer installed using the <strong>rpm <\/strong>command.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>$ rpm -q<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>The command above only displays the version of TeamViewer installed. The final step is to launch our application and start using it.
